Acute Cholecystitis (Gallbladder inflammation)

Acute cholecystitis is the inflammation of the gallbladder that causes severe abdominal pain.I occurs when the concentration of bile trapped in the gallbladder.This causes irritation and pressure in the gallbladder which can lead to infection and hole in the gallbladder.It can be diagnosed by following blood test, Bilirubin, Amylase & Lipase, Liver function, Complete Blood Count..

Causes:
Most of the cases, it is caused by gallstones in the gallbladder and rarely tumors or severe illness.It usually occurs women than men.

Symptoms:
-The main symptom is steady sharp/dull/cramoing pain in the upper right / upper middle of the abdomen which spreads to the back or below right shoulder.
-Other symptoms include Fever,Nausea&Vomiting,light brown stools,Yellowing of skin, Jaundice.

Treatment:
If you are having severe abdominal pain reach medical center fast.
Some patients need surgery to remove the gallbladder(cholecystectomy) when gallstones are present,which prevents further attacks..
In severe conditions before performing surgery, a tube may placed through the skin to drain gallbladder until they gets better.
Some patients do not need a surgey.They can be treated by Antibiotics, pain medicines, low fat diet.
