High cholesterol level
« on: January 05, 2012, 01:23:00 AM »
I am 30 year old,did my cholesterol test,it shows 240(total cholesterol) and my LDL is very high 186..I am very much concerned about this.when i go out i eat a lot of foods, non veg items and junk foods, mostly non veg items such as chicken ,mutton etc..I am 5'4 and my weight is 70kg.should i take medicine?or just to control consuming foods??How can i increase my HDL cholesterol? Is there any multivitamin or supplements? What are the preventive measures should i take?I am worried that the Heart disease is very common on my parents family side.I am getting older too, haven't married yet..What are the preventive measures to reduce the cholesterol level?Has anyone have any idea?please help me.

Lots of people are taking medicines and lot are against taking medicines due to some side effects. And you have a high risk to get stroke in a very early age since you have familial cholesterol. So i would say that prevention is better than cure,so control by taking medicines, exercise.and control junk food, fried items etc.Lose atleast 5kg to 1o kg that would be better for your height. You would be knowing that HDL should be in the range of 30 to 70 and LDL should be 50 to 160.Your LDL is very high.If you are eating right, may be due to hereditary you can follow diet, exercise and medicine it would work sure..Now a days its not common to get sick early. See you doctor on time and follow what you doctor says.

Add apples to your daily food. They're one of the easiest and best ways to prevent bad cholesterol from being absorbed.

One disadvantage of high-cholesterol is that it can cause coronary artery disease. Atherosclerosis is the accumulation of cholestrerol levels causing hardening of the arteries. This built-up cholestrerol in the arteries, is known as plaque. Plaque can block blood flow through arteries, which can lead to further complications.A heart attack can be the result of a tear or rupture of a coronary artery due to the accumulation of oral plaque blocking the circulation of blood flow to an artery, another negative aspect of high-cholesterol.
