I have one doubt : It's commonly known that people use the x-ray film as a shield to safely view a solar eclipse (when there is a higher intensity of uv-rays coming to the earth). Is x-ray film a uv-filter? is it really safe to view sun through an x-ray film?

It is not advisable to use X-Ray film for this purpose, though it is deemed safe.

The best way to watch a solar eclipse is through Television.Seeing a solar eclipse by direct viewing is sure to result in Blindness as a macular burn can occur. Some people advise seeing an eclipse by the reflection on a mirror or water. This too is dangerous. Using an X-Ray film to see an eclipse is deemed safe, but not 100%. Moreover, it can't be seen clearly.Hence, the best way is to record the event on video and then view it leisurely.
