Whooping cough(Pertussis) is highly contagious bacterial infection that affects the upper respiratory system which is caused the Bordetella pertussis or Bordetella parapertussis bacteria that leads to severe cough with a 'whoop' sound. It spreads when an infected person sneezes or coughs.

Symptoms are initially mild ,and then develop into severe cough with a Whooping sound, Breathing problem, loss of conscious, Vomiting, Fever, Pneumonia, runny nose..

Treatment such as DTaP vaccine is available to prevent and protect children against pertussis. The medicines (antibiotics such as erythromycin)
can help reduce the patient's ability to spread the disease to others if diagnosed early.
