Nobody like their winter activities are interrupted by a scratchy or irritated throat. While a sore throat is a common symptm of the cold or flu.
It could also be symptomatic of a "streptococcus bacteria" or strep throat. This bacteria causes an infection in the throat that is very painful,
and typically requires an antibiotic for treatment.

Sore Throat Symptoms:
A cold related sore throat is typically accompanied by sneezing /a runny nose and lasts 2-3 days.
If you are experiencing a cold ,your best treatment is to get lots of rest and drink plenty of fluids.

Strep Throat symptoms:
Symptoms associated with strep throat can include fever, nausea and a red irritated throat, sometimes with white patches.
If you have this, visit your family doctor or clinics urgently. If your 'throat swab test' is positive for strep throat, you can obtain a prescription.
In either case, it is always best to limit exposure to others, wash your hands frequently, disinfect common surfaces and cover your
nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing.
