Both the diseases are related with respiratory system. The symptoms are much similar, but the disease is not the same.

Bronchitis is an inflammation of the bronchi. It usually affects old children and adults.Mostly it is caused by influenza virus sometimes it may bacterial infection. If untreated it may lead to chronic bronchitis and pneumonia.

Bronchiolitis is an inflammation of the bronchioles(Bronchi are further divided into bronchioles). It usually affects premature infants and mostly caused by Respiratory Syncytial Virus(RSV) or other viruses. Children with weak immune system and not breast feed are more prone to get bronchiolitis. If remain untreated it may lead to middle ear bacterial infection and bronchial hyperactivity (asthma) later.Wheezing in children is mainly due to bronchiolitis viral infection.
